Why Are Gas Prices Going Up?

Joann Merrigan, the reporter of WSAV-TV, published an article about gas prices going up through out the world. Considering the issues of inflation, Joann asked Jessica Brady (AAA South) about the reasons of gas prices going up. Jessica said, less demand of oil, oil companies lack of profit, so the companies raise the prices. One major point is that when recession hit U.S., people have less demand on oils. It is not that the Earth is running low on fuel, prices of barrels stays the same. But because of oil companies lack of profits, they decided to raise the price.

Inflation of gas is a forever enemy to a commute student like me who lives 40 minutes away from school. Gas price is one of the economic issues U.S. is having right now, this is not something oil companies can fix in one day. If oil companies decides to lower the price per gallon, then everyone would demand more gas with lower prices. But if this happens economies of those who supports oil company will crash. I believe the quickest way out of this recession is just to give what it takes to be done and solved.

  1. I like your blog because this is an interesting topic right now. I have over an hour commute to school and work daily and it sure is taking a toll on my wallet. I would have liked to know your thoughts on what needs to be done to solve the issue.
There are just a couple grammatical errors. It should be people "have" instead of had and it should be "oil" not oils in the first paragraph.

  2. I agree! The prices on gas are ridiculous. There are many people that I know that have had to switch to other means of transportation such as a bike because of how high gas prices are. I don't see gas prices being lowered any time in the near future and it is very upsetting to think of how many more people that that will effect.

  3. I like your topic because, like you I can also relate to driving a lot and watching my gas go from F all the way down to E. The gas prices seem way too high. It upsets me knowing that we are not running low on fuel but prices continue to go up.
