Proud Son of Korea
I am the son of Korea
Born in the peaceful city of South Korea
the son of mountains and ocean
I am the son of Chungju, Korea
made of winds that swift through the crop fields
and the clear sound of the ocean.
Grandson of my ancestors who ruled Korea for thousands of years.
Where my eyes see abundant apple trees
and where my tongue enjoys the spiciness of peppers.
I speak Korean with proud; it is my natural,
way of describing my uniqueness
Born in peninsula, with the taste of salty sea
sweet smell of Grandmother's sweat who now I will see in Heaven
Rich brown soils of Korea, surrounded by mountains
who gives fresh cool air to the farmers.
Fall, everything is brown, red, yellow, and green.
Trees shake their leaves off, people harvest the crops
mountains turn into beautiful bright colors
Oceans making calming waves with ever blue
I am not Japanese, they are our neighbors who did
cruel things to our people
I am not Chinese, they are a neighbor with great lands
I am Korean, pure blooded.
I am proud to be son of Korea
I am me
I love that you have your comment in Korean, Kyung. This is an awesome poem which tells so much about your ethnic background. My favorite stanza is the first one. Some grammar to correct is as follows:
답글삭제I speak Korean with pride
no comma needed after natural
Born on a peninsula
heaven not Heaven
Your last stanza is also strong....defining what you are not.
You rock.
This poem seems to tell story from where your from which I like. After reading, Korea appears to be a great place to live. Also the flow of the poem worked very well.
답글삭제I have to agree with Sheila, you rock! Great poem! Your description and use of alliteration are fantastic! You've mastered 4 out of the 5 Cs (clear, concise, complete, and courteous). Focus on grammar for the next assignment and you will have covered correct too.
답글삭제This poem is amazing! This poem flows very nicely. I like how you incorporate the things that surround and make up Korea in the poem. In the poem you are describing the things that are all around Korea and relating them to how they influenced you and created who you are. I like the ending abstract that you are the son of Korea. Very good job.
